Youth Hurdles & Jumps Minnesota
Hurdles and Jumps Training for Youth Athletes
Lightning Performance provides technical development for youth hurdlers and jumpers, helping athletes learn rhythm, takeoff mechanics, coordination, explosive power, and confidence in competition.
Technical coaching matters
Hurdles and jumps are skill events. Athletes benefit from progressive teaching that develops safe movement patterns before adding speed, height, distance, or competitive pressure. Lightning Performance athletes receive jumps development from Coach Jason James and Coach Anna-Marie Allen, giving young athletes access to experienced event-specific instruction.
Hurdles
Hurdlers work on posture, rhythm, approach consistency, takeoff position, lead- and trail-leg mechanics, and the ability to sprint between barriers rather than simply clear them.
Jumps
Jump development may include approach consistency, takeoff mechanics, landing skills, elastic strength, coordination, and event-specific progressions for long jump and triple jump.
Hurdle rhythm • Lead/trail mechanics • Approach runs • Long jump • Triple jump • Plyometric skill • Strength • Competitive confidence
